 Continued confessions of a charm pack junkie~

You may remember back on July 3rd, I posted that Jackie had been busy cutting new Custom Cut Charm Packs (Vintage 1, Vintage 2, Neutrals, and Summertime.)  Well a month later...here is my Vintage Bow Tie! 

This baby (37" x 45") has a warm, nostalgic feel that reminds me of Autumn.  For the quilt top, I used 80 medium/dark squares from the Vintage 1 and Vintage 2 Charm Packs and 40 light, background squares, made from the Neutrals Charm Pack.  You can see that I used scrap pieces to make the outer border.  There was just a ittle stack of 1"X3" pieces of scrap (which, I just might be able to use in another tiny little project~ let nothing go to waste!)

 

The machine quilting, done by Sally B. of Sisters, adds just the right touch, with feathery flowers in the circle centers, and viney leaves running through the bow ties.  I love this one, and hope you do, too!

Here is lucky #7...just back from the quilter (Terri K. of Sisters)
this cutie doesn't even have its binding on yet, but I just had to share!

(How many little froggy faces can you find hidden in the fabric?) 

 

I used two
Stitchin' Post Custom Cut Charm Packs in
"Prince Charming" by Tula Pink.

The pattern I used is called "Flowers in the Sunshine"
by Sweet Jane's Quilting and Design,
which we will be getting at the Stitchin' Post very soon!

By the way~
Did I mention that I will be teaching a new Club this fall?
Can you guess what it could possibly be?

 Here is my new Charm Squares Baby Quilt...

 

 

Beautiful machine quilting was done by Sally B. of Sisters.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I used a Stitchin' Post Custom Cut Charm Pack "Summertime", which Jackie cut before Quilt Show and we sold out...I begged her to cut it again (now that my store sample is done!)  So she cut another round of Summertime.  There are a few fabrics that are different this time around, but honestly, I like round 2 better!  I think you will too!

This quilt is super simple and comes together quickly if you need a baby gift in a hurry! 

You only need 38 charm squares
5/8 yard fabric for sashing
1 1/4 yard fabric for backing and
3/8 yard fabric for binding

I am currently working on more charmers to share with you.

I am using all three of the vintage collections
to make a traditional-style Bow Tie quilt.

The Summertime collection however
calls for something crisp and modern, don't you think?

Here is my latest "charmer"  and I believe...my new favorite wall hanging!

 

I used the 2011 Quilt Show Panel by Kathy Deggendorfer:

 

And one of our Stitchin' Post Custom Cut Charm Packs:

Of course, I had to use one of the

Creative Grids Charming 5 Square Templates!

This time, it was the very basic 5 Square Template. 

It is THE PERFECT tool for fussy cutting the animal squares from each side of the main panel.  I also used the 5 Square Template for cutting the charm square fabrics into strips and squares, to go around the focal blocks with little animals.  

 

 

 

 

Now...if this wasn't cute enough already,

I put a surprise on the backside...

YES!  It's fully reversible!

(Thank you Sally B. for quilting a design that works well on both sides!)

Lawry is writing up pattern instructions,

so you too can make this sweet two-sided charmer!

Little Charmer #4

Here is my latest charm pack accomplishment.  This time I used Creative Grids Charming 5 Square Template #5 (Set On Point Square).  (Have I mentioned that I love these templates?) I used the pattern that is included with the template and one charm pack of "Fa La La La La" by French General.  To complete the tablerunner, you will need 1/2 yd of fabric for backing and 1/4 yd for binding. 

 

 

I did not do a traditional binding.  I used Jean's method of making a Frame Facing, which makes the table runner very "reversible."

 

   

 

 

 

 

  I was feeling pretty lazy at the time, and didn't want to hand sew the facing to the back.  What I did instead:  I used my sewing machine's blanket stitch and was very careful to keep the facing straight.  I like the added touch this detail gives to the French General look.

Spring has finally arrived!  This sweet quilt is the perfect place to share a book with a special little person in your life, as you enjoy a sunny afternoon together.

    

 

This time, I used Creative Grids Charming 5 Square Whirligig Template #4 and two charm packs of "Central Park" by Kate Spain.  Terri K. of Sisters, Oregon did the machine quilting.  Here is the full view of my quilt...

 

I don't think I mentioned it before, but every template comes with a pattern for a table topper.  The "Bow Tie" runner below is the pattern that comes with the Whirligig Template.  I used charm squares left over from the quilt above.   

Currently, we have a Suduko Quilt Kit by Moda that's perfect for making both the quilt and the table runner!  (You could always use the "Suduko" pattern for another line of fabric!)

Time to take the plunge, break open those charm packs, and start using them! ~Tamra

As promised...here is charmer #2.  The quarter-square blocks were made from our "Contemporary" Custom Cut Charm Pack.  (2 each of 20 different hand-selected fabrics, cut into 5" squares.) 

I used Creative Grids Half-Square/Quarter-Square Template #6. 

Having the right tools and the right charm pack makes this little quilt "Easy Breezy!"

Lucky for me, Jackie has been creating Stitchin' Post Custom Cut Charm Packs.  Each charm pack has forty 5" squares (2 each of 20 different, hand-selected fabrics.)

Look for this table topper and it's matching Custom Cut Charm Packs while you are Shop Hopping this weekend!  The table topper was sewn from a charm pack made with this year's Shop Hop theme fabric "13 Going on 30" by Maywood Studios.  The hatchet block was made using  Creative Grids Charming 5 Square Hatchet Template #3.  (Pattern included in template instructions.) 

I have other samples (made from the Whirligig Template #4 and the Half Square/Quarter Square Template #6) to show you, but they aren't quite ready yet.
