My new "best friend", Fast to Fuse.
I love all the fabric craft projects that I can do with this product. It is a stiff batting type of product with fusible web on both sides. I used it to make my Briefcase Style Tote
My newest project is decorative envelopes that my friend Betty Daggett showed me how to do.
1. Cut a rectangular piece of Fast to Fuse and backing fabric 12" x 20" for a standard paper folder (8 1/2" x 11").
2. You can use bits of sewn together fabric and scraps.
3. Arrange them on the fast to fuse.
4. Place an applique pressing sheet under the project and if you have a second pressing sheet put it on top. Otherwise place a piece of muslin on top. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for fusing. Trim off excess fabric around the edges. One side is now complete. Turn it over and the fuse the inside lining fabric on the back.
5. Free motion quilt the layers together. (Top layer, Fast to Fuse and inside lining fabric) This is a good place to practice doodling designs.
6. Zigzag stitch around the edges to finish them. I like to go around twice.
After zig zagging fold the 12" x 20" finished piece in half to measure 12" x 10", topstitch on the two 10" sides, back tack at the start and finish. Add sticky back velcro closures if you like.
Happy Exploring, Jean
