Anna posted a fantastic slide show of pictures from Bev King's class yesterday. For anyone interested in learning the technique of Sashiko Quilting, we plan to offer the class again in the Fall 2011 Class Schedule (look for it in your mailbox in August!)
I have been eagerly waiting for "Quilting -- Line + Color" to arrive. I had seen the cover in advertisements. It is truly a beautiful book by Yoshiko Jinzenji. Today I had a chance to try out one of the projects in the book and quilt it. I used a 3" grid incorporating prints from the new "Cloud 9" organic fabric line that just arrived.
To quilt the pillow top I layered it on "white" thin batting and machine quilted straight lines 1/4" apart. There is no backing, just quilting through the top and batting. For a pillow top, this cuts down on the bulk. I used the edge of my presser foot for a guide.
Now I am all excited to make a table runner with the same technique but make the background color a shade of gray or green....I will keep you posted. Jean --
